Last day in Kathmandu

Flying to Lhasa tomorrow morning...

Walking along the crazy streets here very early yesterday morning and looking up at the mass of electrical wires straddling across the roof tops - there were two huge monkeys using the wires as tightropes - bouncing from roof to roof...reminded me of Manchester United supporters!! That was just for Dan....

Off to see a Hindu temple this morning (part of some wonderful sightseeing tour)...apparently this is where they burn the stiffies and float them down the river - 50 to 60 at a time...shold be interesting. Nothing like the smell of Napalm first thing in the morning :-)

Still have my sick sense of humour...

Update

Yo Marty

As promised, Bolton 2 - Arsenal 1

Enjoy

I Have Surfaced....

Finally in Kathmandu...what a crazy crazy place...Good trip over - no issues.
Was counting the number of times I heard a car sound it's horn today - I lost count at 34,555,732...no kidding.
Hey Brian - they have EVEREST beers here - I will bring you back a label!!
Found a 'real' North Face outlet here - F&^%...it is 50% the price of gear in Oz...not happy!
Sightseeing on Monfay and then out of here!
PS - I have taken a picture of the world's worst toilet. I was going to post it - but you would have chucked up -  later!!

Enjoy

Well Mr Thorpe, you are well on your way now and as promised, will keep you up to date on the Soccer. Now I recall on Wednesday a rather 'perky' conversation with you about 'United dropped points bla bla bla' but of course I rested in the knowledge that we were top and Arsenal were not. Now the sad news, on the day of your departure, Arsenal are not even second, passed by Chelsea because they also dropped points.

Of course, this is all really a bunch of crap compared to the mountain you are heading to. Enjoy, break wind and stay safe.

Bugga....

So here's a challenge...I have a kit bag which is 140 litres in capacity...which is now full and overflowing. My Backpack is 70 litres...how the hell is all this kit going to fit in there? Bugga it - I will sort it out in Kathmandu...
Give me a beer!

Climbing v a Million Monkeys..... Mmm yeah I would rather go climbing

Marty

"Im sure [Climbing is] more interesting than your day time activity, which closely resembles the million monkeys theory" :-)

Have a blast, and enjoy your trip !
